This is the list of the slaves identified in the probate/will records for the identified enslaver. The Slave Master’s ID and the Slaves ID should be noted and used to find other slaves associated with this slave master as well as to help you track the slave across the varying enslavers.
- With the SLID (SlaveID) from the 1870 Census of your Ancestor, and/or
- the SMID (SlaveMasterID) of the Slave Master
- You can FILTER the list of names using the drop down or
- Use the SEARCH BOX to filter the list or
- You can do a COMBINED FILTERING of the information using both
- The list returned will be the transactions of the sale, purchases or gifting of slaves to the individuals identified
- Use the ARROWS on the left and right edge of the screen to scroll the page to see additional information
NOTE: The best approach when searching for information on the website is to either search by the FAMID or the Slave Master’s last name.
If you use the FAMID, you will see all of the FAMID’s associated with the women who received slaves. When Printing, print landscape to view the columns that require scrolling.
SM_ID – The ID assigned to the Slave Master / Enslaver
FAMID – The ID assigned to the Family Group surname
TreeID – The ID assigned to the Individual Family to link and associate them
