As a dedicated genealogy researcher, my commitment lies in uncovering the stories of my ancestors who were tragically separated, gifted, and sold during the era of slavery. In this video presentation, I aim to share valuable insights and methodologies that I employ to navigate the complexities of DNA matches, particularly when confronted with unfamiliar surnames and geographical locations. Utilizing platforms such as Ancestry, alongside other DNA matching services, Pedigree Charts, and Gedmatch, I will elucidate effective strategies to overcome genealogical obstacles. This recording features collaborative discussions with members of my Gedmatch project and Facebook groups focused on the Southern Alabama region, serving as a collective effort to further genealogical understanding and connection.
