Did you know that most of us who have ties to Alabama have ancestor connections to South Carolina and the West Indies like Jamaica? This is a session for the Williamsburg, SC group to show how we must expand our research beyond the boundaries of our immediate locale interests. For me, it started when I was looking for connections to my Prather surname to find Robert “Tim” Williams who connected to me cousin Ellen Kendall and her European ancestors took me to Abbeville, Anderson and Williamsburg, SC. I will also be showing tips and tricks of using Ancestry and Gedmatch to aid in our quest to find our lost family members due to slavery.
