In order to successfully conduct research on your enslaved ancestors, there are vital and key steps you must take. DNA might help you figure out how you’re related to someone, but there is a great deal of work you must do to find that connection. In this session, I share with the Friends of the Catoctin Furnace Descendant group the steps to successfully build and find their connections to their new cousins they’ve discovered through DNA. I discuss Ancestry, Gedmatch, DNA and how to triangulate your high matches to understand the connection with the lower centimorgan matches.
